While oil prices continued their upward journey on Monday, reaching new record highs on the back of investor buying, coal prices moved in the opposite direction, shedding several dollars.
On Nymex, the WTI front month crude oil contract ended the day up USD 2.75 at USD 107.90 after having showed its volatility throughout the session. A low was touched at USD 104.08/barrel, while the contract peaked at USD 108.21/barrel, the highest level seen since trading began in 1983.
