Commodities - Sharp gains for oil and coal

Prices for oil and coal soared yesterday, with gains of more than five dollars day on day.
Crude oil prices were lifted amid a weakening dollar and geopolitical tension. Russia said it would respond with more than a diplomatic protest to a deal to place part of a US missile defence system in Poland, the Financial Times reported. Russia also made it clear that it has no intention of bowing to Nato's calls for a withdrawal to positions held before the invasion in Georgia.Br
